Armenia as a signatory and new member for the first time participated at the 7th Assembly of the International Solar Alliance

On 4 November 2024, Armenia as a signatory and new member for the first time participated at the 7th Assembly of the International Solar Alliance (ISA), held in New Delhi.

On this occasion, Armenia's Ambassador to India, Vahagn Afyan, stated that by joining this international initiative, Armenia is determined to develop its solar energy sector and strengthen energy independence.

The Ambassador highlighted Armenia's priority for renewable energy. Through its 2022-2030 Energy Saving and Renewable Energy Program, Armenia aims to increase solar energy production from 5% to 15%. Key projects include the implementation of solar installation programs and encouraging private sector involvement. Armenia is also supporting electric vehicle imports and the establishment of charging stations. By 2040, Armenia aims to achieve a 60% share of renewable energy by developing a resilient and sustainable energy system through international cooperation.

The International Solar Alliance aims to promote the development of clean and sustainable energy based on the use of solar power.

For 2025-2026, India and France have respectively taken on the roles of presidency and co-presidency of the alliance.
