Ambassador Martirosyan meets the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh

On February 10, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to the People's Republic of Bangladesh (with residence in New Delhi) Armen Martirosyan was received by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh Abdul Momen.

Ambassador Martirosyan handed over the congratulatory message of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Z. Mnatsakanyan on the occasion of his appointment as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh.

During the meeting the sides exchanged views on the current state of bilateral relations and prospects of their development. Recognizing the effective cooperation established between the permanent representations of Armenia and Bangladesh in the UN, the sides affirmed the necessity of expanding the bilateral agenda.

During the conversation, Minister Momen shared his memories of Armenians living in Dhaka’s  Armenian district of  Armanitola and underlined their significant contribution in the development of Benghal.

Discussing the prospects of cooperation, the interlocutors found it expedient to consider culture as a priority field, bearing in mindthe large presence of Armenian cultural heritage in Bangladesh. Ambassador Martirosyan briefed the Minister about the agenda of his upcoming meeting with the Minister of Cultural Affairs of Bangladesh K. M. Khalid highlighting the issues of inclusion of the Armenian Holy Resurrection Church of Dhakain UNESCO’s World Heritage List, organization ofArmenian classical concert in the month of December, as well as the assistance of Armenian experts to the Bangladesh National Museum in restoration of oilpaintings. Minister Momen welcomed the above mentioned initiatives  and promised to support their implementation.

During the meeting the parties also touched upon other issues of mutual interest.
