Ambassador Martirosyan meets the Minister of Cultural Affairs of Bangladesh

On February 12, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Armenia to Bangladesh (with residence in New Delhi) Armen Martirosyan met with the newly appointed Minister of Cultural Affairs of Bangladesh K. M. Khalid.

Ambassador Martirosyan first congratulated the Minister in the occasion of his appointment and informed that in his discussions with Bangladesh's Foreign Minister, bilateral cultural cooperation was given a special significance. Ambassador Martirosyan expressed his gratitude to the leadership of the Ministry of Culture of Bangladesh for inclusion of the photograph of the Armenian Holy Resurrection Church of Dhaka in the 2019 calendar of the Archaeological Department of the Ministry.

As a result of the discussion, Minister Khalid expressed his readiness to take necessary steps on behalf of his government to include the Armenian Holy Resurrection Church of Dhaka in the UNESCO World Heritage List. The parties agreed on joint implementation of this project. At the same time, Minister Khalid promised to take measures along with the municipal authorities to improve the condition of the streets adjacent to the church to boost the number of tourists visiting it.

An agreement has been reached to restore several oil paintings of the Bangladesh National Museum with the help of the Armenian experts, topresent the history of the  Armenian community of Bengal and showcase the examples of the Armenian fine arts at the National Museum. The Armenian classical concertsare planned to be organized in Dhaka at the end of this year. In the preservation of of the Armenian Holy Resurrection Church of Dhaka and implementation of the above-mentioned programs, the warden Armenian-American Armen Arslanian has been playing an essential role.
