On February 10, the Embassy of Armenia in India and the Armenian-Indian Cultural Centre, in collaboration with Gandhi Smriti-Darshan Samiti,organized a cultural event titled "In the path of Mahatma Gandhi, India - Armenia towards Peace and Non-Violence" as part of the celebrations ofthe 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Ambassador Armen Martirosyan welcomed the guests and delivered a speech. The Armenian-Indian Cultural Centre demonstrated the country presentationon Armenia Prof.

The president of the Armenian-Indian Cultural Centre Gayane Movsisyan, members of the centre Mane Mkrtchyan and Naira Mkrtchyan, friends of the Armenian Community renowned physician Padma Shree Awardee Professor Mohsin Wali, and writer-publicist Suman Keshari, as well as Gandhi Smriti- Darshan  Programme Officer Dr. Vedabhyas Kundu delivered speeches.

Jill Carr-Harris, an organizer of a year-long global Justice and Peace March called Jai Jagat 2020 took also part in the event and talked about the initiative. The march, which has kicked off in Delhi en route to Geneva on Mahatma Gandhi’s 150th birth anniversary on October 02, will pass through different regions of Armenia, spreading the message of peace and non-violence.

Armenian Folk Ensemble Kayt, which arrived in India within the framework of the annual international craft fair Surajkund Mela 2020, performed traditional Armenian songs.

The cultural programme was followed by the book release of the folk tale “The Golden city” by the Armenian poet Hovhannes Tumanyan translated in Hindi by Mane Mkrtchyan.

Students of several Indian schools, many of which from homeless families, took part and performed at the event.
