On February 19, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Ara Aivazian had a phone conversation with Minister of Foreign Affairs of India Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.

The interlocutors discussed a wide range of issues on bilateral agenda, commanding the high level of Armenian-Indian relations based on traditional friendship and mutual understanding. Both sides expressed readiness to make practical efforts aimed at strengthening and expanding the bilateral cooperation.

The Foreign Ministers emphasized the close cooperation between Armenia and India within the framework of international organizations. In this context, Minister Aivazian congratulated Minister Ghayshankar on the occasion of India's election as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, expressing confidence that this membership would serve the promotion of the common goals of peace and security.

Ministers Aivazian and Jaishankar touched upon the issues of security and peace in their regions. Both sides stressed the need for a peaceful settlement of conflicts, that addresses the interests of all. In this regard, Ara Aivazian thanked his colleague for the solidarity expressed to the Armenian people during the Azerbaijani aggression against Artsakh.

The Foreign Ministers of Armenia and India also exchanged views on overcoming the COVID-19 pandemic and international cooperation in that regard, noting that unity should be prioritized in the fight against the pandemic. In this context, Minister Aivazian commended India's support to Armenia during the COVID-19 pandemic at the beginning of last year.
