Cooperation between the Embassy of Armenia in India and KISS gears up

In February 2017 Ambassador of Armenia Armen Martirosyan visited the largest residential education centre for tribal children in India- Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS), upon invitation of its founder Dr.Achyuta Samanta. During the course of the visit, they discussed and agreed on the avenues for cooperation.

On May 25-30, upon invitation of the Aurora Humanitarian Initiative, Dr.A.Samanta visited Armenia, and participated in Awakening Humanity international conference and Aurora Prize-2017 event. As a part of 2017 Aurora Dialogues, Dr.A.Samanta delivered a lecture on “Promotion of humanitarianism and peace by arresting violence” at the American University of Armenia. He spoke about his personal experience and shared his views on how education can help to address various humanitarian problems.

On August 01-05, in collaboration with the Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences, the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in New Delhi organized the visit of Indo-Armenian couple Anna Avagyan and Rahul Sethi to KISS, within the framework of the cultural exchange initiative. During the course of the visit, Armenian traditional dancer and musician Anna Avagyan gave classes for tribal children studying in KISS. At the end, A.Avagyan organized a cultural show, where she performed on the Armenian traditional musical instrument santoor, and the pupils performed Armenian dance called Uzundara for the audience.  

Anna`s husband Dr. Rahul Sethi, who is an alumni of the Yerevan State Medical University of Armenia, conducted basic cardiac life support and personal hygiene workshops.

Upon completion of the visit, the couple was issued Appreciation Certificates of the International Internship Volunteering Program of KISS.
